Dining in Vail

While the focus of our blog certainly pertains to lodging in the Vail Valley this great community has so much more to offer. As an avid food critic, and hungry, I thought I’d expand our blog’s horizon to a critique of where to eat in Vail and Beaver Creek. Restaurants in Vail are a competitive bunch as they compete for the local, and visitors, recognition. Below are a few restaurants that rise above the rest:

Terra Bistro

Terra Bistro caters to the health conscious, and certainly food loving, guests and locals of Vail by offering a largely organic menu. Inspired by this approach their staff aims to buy products locally, and serve them in an energetic, lively restaurant. The restaurant employs a wide array of styles blending their menu into a global excursion of cuisines. The restaurant is highly acclaimed, and as a winner of Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence guests will certainly be impressed by their high level of quality. Price point is high, approximately $65 per person.

Sweet Basil

Well renowned in Vail the Sweet Basil is not only a staple, but a favorite of guests and locals for over 30 years. The restaurant’s focus is on modern American cuisine, and with a well experienced staff this translates to a wide array of dishes using nothing less than quality ingredients. Fresh seafood is an extensive part of their ever changing menu, while lamb, duck and other fine meats are also used. The restaurant seats 130 and is generally busy, make sure to book a reservation when visiting as you will certainly be impressed. Price point is high at approximately $65 per person, though you won’t regret your expenditure.

Centre V Brasserie

The lone restaurant from this review in Lionshead Village, Centre V sets a high standard for not only Lionshead but all of the Vail Valley in regards to fine French cuisine. Located in the beautiful Arrabelle this restaurant is located slope side, and as such is great to eat at from the minute you’re off the mountain. Relatively simple fare is well executed by their attentive staff, their plate of the day features a revolving heavier dish based around exquisite meats. The rest of their menu offers an extensive selection of salads, seafood and entrees. High price point at $50 per diner.

The Vail Plaza Club is certainly carving out its own niche in the Vail Village, the hotel offers outstanding access to both the Village and mountain for very competitive prices.
