With Aspen’s Bud Light Hi-Fi Series, the Winter X Games right around the corner,
Fashion Week, and the picturesque setting of one of North America’s best ski destinations, there are plenty of reasons to visit the
Aspen | Snowmass area. For cross country skiers too, this February will be featuring the annual Owl Creek Chase-Aspen Nordic Festival.
The “chase” is one of Colorado’s premier cross-country ski races since 1985, and the challenging course winds from Snowmass Village to Aspen with tough climbs, scenic views, thrilling descents, and of course, great snow conditions.
There are a few options for
registration if interested in participating in this challenging course. Feburary 13th opens the course to citizens, with the 5K Citizen Classic starting at 9:00 am, the 5K Women’s Classic at 9:30, and the Men’s Classic at 10:00. Registration for all of these courses are open until February 10th.
On the 14th, the Owl Creek Chase commences at 11:00 for the elite men and women eager to participate in the 21 K course. For the hard core X country killers, registration is $45 until 2/10/11. After that, you may register for $60 from the 12th up until race day. The course follows a loop around Snowmass Club Golf Course before connecting to Owl Creek Trail, then follows Owl Creek, crossing Buttermilk and TiehackBridge.
Ski with the pros the following day where free lessons are offered and hosted by Ute Mountaineer and Aspen Cross Country Center. Factory team members from Saab, Alpina, Madhus, Rossignol, and Fischer/Craft will be teaching, and Ski with the Pros is open to any interested individuals of all levels.
