Opening Days for Ski Resorts in Colorado!

Have you been waking up each morning with excitement? Immediately going to the window to see if snow has fallen overnight? Or religiously checking your computer for the snow report, hoping you somehow slept for a month and all the resorts have suddenly opened? Well if you have, you are not alone. I have been impatiently waiting for the beginning of ski season, even though it was only three months ago that I was taking runs at Arapahoe Basin on the 4th of July.

4th of July in Abasin

4th of July at Araphoe Basin

It was a great day to end a wonderful season, complete with friends and a grill in the parking lot. But as I look out my office window at Vail, I look forward to the coming season, and pray that this year will be as fulfilling as the last.

While Vail is not open yet, the ski season in Colorado has already begun! On October 7th, 2011, Wolf Creek opened, recording the earliest opening day in Colorado’s history. Arapahoe Basin followed soon after on October 11th, this past weekend Copper and Keystone Opened! So get out your calendars, put a big red “X” on the following dates, and start the countdown to what is predicted to be another La Nina winter!

Whether you‘re coming to ski on opening day or sometime mid-season  be sure to find out more about how our team of Friendly. Knowledgeable. Locals.® can help you plan your customized summer or winter vacation in any of our fun-filled destinations.

Copper Mountain Lift Off

It’s snowing in the mountains and the ski resorts will be open before we know it, which is definitely cause for celebration! Copper Mountain is opening in a mere TWO WEEKS and will be commemorating the occasion all weekend long! On Friday, November 5th through Sunday, November 7th, Copper Mountain celebrates Lift Off, the resort’s 6th annual opening weekend festival, presented by Sprint. Once again, Copper is starting off the season right with ski and snowboard movies, demos, giveaways, prizes, après parties and late night music. A wide array of ski and snowboard videos will be playing for free throughout the weekend and tickets for the Lyrics Born concert are only $12, available now at Guest Services or at the door.

My best friend and I loving life on Copper Mountain!

The annual Lift Off festival is just one of the reasons that Copper is a great place to ride. It has immense backcountry options, amazing tree runs, and FREE parking, among many other things. Copper Mountain is definitely one of my personal favorites because it was where I first got a taste of fresh pow, back bowls and tree runs. It was so great it had me coming back to Colorado every winter until eventually I moved here! Copper Mountain will always hold a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to go back for the Lift Off festival!
