Dog Sledding:
Dog sledding is available on a reservation basis in Durango. Allow us to set up your dog sledding adventure and explore the beautiful region of the San Juan Mountains from a new stance. Tours are available throughout the day until twilight. Allow stunningly strong huskies to lead you on an unforgettable journey through the back country.

Ice Skating:
A must-do winter activity, Durango offers public ice skating at Chapman Hill Rink, so bring the whole family and lace up for a fun-filled day!

Nordic Skiing:
With over sixteen kilometers of pristine trails, Nordic skiers are in for a cross country adventure! Spend a day at the Nordic Center and travel in and out of lush forests and take in beautiful views of the San Juan Mountains. This is an activity for any level of experience, and both private and group lessons are available. Be sure to ask about our group package.

Sleigh Rides:
Bundle up and prepare for an exhilarating, horse drawn adventure. Good for the whole family or just for two, sleighs depart nightly at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. and can accommodate up to six people. Riders glide over pristine snow while enjoying a 35-45 minute tour of the base of Purgatory.

Snow Coaster Tubing:
Give your legs a rest after a day of skiing and fly down the mountain tube style! Tubing is the perfect way to sit back, relax, and zip down the hill at soaring speeds. Tube rentals are by the hour for an unlimited amount of afternoon fun.

Snowbikes:
A relatively new phenomenon in winter sports, Durango offers guests the option to explore the mountain by snowbike. Riders must be certified before taking on the slopes, and certification courses are available on site. Ask about group rates for riding classes.

Snowmobiling:
A fast paced way to tour the mountains, snowmobiling adventures are available for riders of all ages! One to four hour tours are available and riders are invited to glide over miles and miles of groomed trails at gripping speeds. A real sightseeing adventure, tours run from 9am to 5pm every day of the week, so be sure to allot a few hours of your stay to a snowmobile tour.

Snowshoe Tours:
Explore the mountain at your own pace on guided snowshoe tours. Snowshoeing requires no experience, but a lot of layers of clothes, as the weather may change in an instant! Snowshoers are invited to walk as fast as slow as they want while enjoying scenic views up close. Lunch and water are provided, though participants are advised to bring their own water as well. Ask about moonlight snowshoe adventures as well! Be sure to book at least 24 hours in advance.
