Steamboat Springs

Opening Day: November 24, 2010

Steamboat Springs, also known as Ski Town, U.S.A., is nestled in central Colorado and is the most populous city in Routt County.  Steamboat contains a complete mountain range including Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge, and Christie Peak.  With over 2,965 acres of skiable terrain, Steamboat provides trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels of ability.  This resort is particularly well known for “Maverick’s Superpipe”, its adjacent terrain park featuring an outdoor sound system and glades.  Once the snow has melted and the flowers have bloomed in Steamboat, there are even more activities to experience.  Exploration is essential to enjoying the summers here, as the area provides 19 hiking trails covering 50 miles, unique bird-watching, tubing, and biking, among many other events and activities.  This historic old town in central Colorado is a must-visit, offering great dining, outdoor activities, lodging, and events all year round.

The town of Steamboat offers the scenery and atmosphere of a classic western town lined with boutique shops and rustic buildings surrounded by a complete mountain range.  These are walk-about shops located along the historic railroad depot building, and the hot springs from which the town gets its name.  Ski Town, U.S.A. is a century old frontier town based around the great outdoors.  Unique to Steamboat Springs is its close proximity to natural hot springs including Old Town Hot Springs and Strawberry Hot Springs, which offers great stargazing due to lack of light pollution.  It is no mistake that President Theodore Roosevelt chose Steamboat Springs to visit on his various fishing and hunting trips, leading to his motion to create the National Forest System.  To supplement the notoriety gained from skiing in Steamboat, the town is also home to world class mountain biking and hiking trails, making this an extremely attractive year-round resort.
