Whistler Mountain Resort is perfect for your summer or winter vacation for the same reasons that it has been ranked the number one mountain resort in North America and was chosen as the host of the 2010 Winter Olympic events. Throughout the winter months Whistler is filled with high mountain snow, setting the perfect scene for world renowned alpine skiing/snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Even though the snow and cold weather don’t last all year, the beautiful scenery, plethora of fun activities, shopping and fine dining do. During the summer months, Whistler’s majestic landscape is shown in a whole new light; the trees and wild flowers blossom, filling the countryside with beautiful colors, while grass beaches are opened along crystal clear lakes and rivers. The end of winter sports marks the beginning of a whole new collection of sun filled activities, including mountain biking, hiking, swimming, golfing, kayaking and so much more. The town of Whistler is hidden deep amongst the southern pacific ranges of the Coast Mountains in the Canadian province of British Columbia, just two hours North of Vancouver. At the town center Whistler Village is surrounded with beautiful mountain landscape and filled with West Coast architecture and car-free walkways. With the perfect combination of quaint mountain charm and modern exuberance, it is no wonder that Whistler Village has recurrently won awards and received rave reviews.
The town of Whistler is home to Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain which are connected by the town villages. The village area can be separated into three sections, with Whistler Village being to the south, Village North to the North and Upper village to the East. Whistler Village is located at the base of Whistler Mountain and is the center of most shopping, dining, nightlife and events, as well as a large portion of the condos and hotels. While the Upper Village and Village North contain less shopping, dining and nightlife, they are home to several hotels and condos. The Whistler Creekside area is located ten minutes south of Whistler Village and has its own small town center with dining and shopping as well as gondola access to Whistler Mountain. The Nicklaus North region is located five minutes south of Whistler Village and is home to a large portion of the cross-country skiing as well as the Nicklaus North Golf Course. Just west of Nicklaus North is the quiet neighborhood of Alpine Meadows, where you’ll find nice remote cabins and homes.
