When traveling to Vail, most guests fly into either Eagle County Airport (EGE) or Denver International Airport (DEN). Guests arriving to both airports are able to order a private car or limo, reserve a shuttle, or rent a car. Depending on your group size and preferences, each option will get you to Vail in roughly the same amount of time.
Eagle County Airport (EGE)
Located about 35 miles from Vail, Eagle County Airport is a short stretch of highway from this wonderful ski resort. The drive is fairly easy – there are no mountain passes to cross or crazy hills and turns to manuever. So if you enjoy the freedom of renting a car, this is a great option from Eagle’s Airport (make sure your vacation rental provides covered parking if you visit in the winter). For a more enjoyable ride, private cars and limos are a great choice. Also great for groups and large families, a private car becomes a bit more affordable when you have a large number of people. Finally, shuttles are a quick, easy and comfortable way to get from Eagle County Airport to Vail.
Denver International Airport (DEN)
A bit more than 2 hours from Vail, Denver’s Airport is a popular airport for people traveling to Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Renting a car from Denver may be a bit more difficult, and while driving through the Rockies is beautiful, drivers must conquer the Continental Divide and Vail Pass before arriving to Vail. If you are comfortable driving in any type of weather through winding mountain roads, a rental car may be for you. If you would like to relax and enjoy the ride, renting a private car or shuttle may be for you. There are a variety of rental car, shuttle and private car options, and depending on your group size and transportation preferences, each option could be right for you!
