Kirkwood - Vacation Rentals & Ski Lodging

In the grand scheme of things, it’s easy to overlook Kirkwood Mountain Resort, especially with Lake Tahoe and its many resorts only a short trip to the North. However, we promise you that to do that would be a regrettable mistake. Kirkwood offers a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the bigger resorts, offering a what-you-see-is-what-you-get experience where the snow is bountiful and the lift lines are miniscule in this tucked away slice of paradise.

Kirkwood is a visitor friendly resort from the very beginning. The lodging accommodations, whether you’re looking for something simple or luxurious, emanate the unique feel of Kirkwood. Resort dining tends to run more casual, so if you’re looking for a burger and a beer, you’re in the right place. Of course, if you’re in the mood for some fine dining, head on over to The Wall Bar & Restaurant. Here, you’ll find culinary delights from the Pacific Rim and the Southwest, artfully paired with local wines and followed up with mouth-watering deserts.

You can relax after a day on the mountain at Body Slopes Massage where they’ll make your muscles melt and tension disappear. And, if you need to stock up on a few essentials during your stay, the General Store will set you up with whatever you need, there’s even a Post Office inside. It’s a real one-stop-shop.

As far as activities are concerned, Kirkwood focuses in on a few different options that it does very well. In the winter, the resort is about skiing and snowboarding, though there are some great snowshoeing trails if you’d like to take in some wintertime hiking and enjoy the great outdoors. In the summertime, Kirkwood hones in on hiking and mountain biking as its primary draws. However, there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied, including serene boating, an extreme climbing wall, a fun filled disc golf course, relaxing times fishing and horseback riding tours.

Due to its locations, Kirkwood has a micro-climate that inundates its slopes with snow, averaging 600 inches (1,524 centimeters) of snowfall each season and it’s a good thing, too. With 2,300 skiable acres (930 hectares) divided among its more than 81 runs, you’ll be spraying powder all day long. Its 15 individual lifts will ensure you enjoy the slopes, which are great for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels, with terrain divided into 15% for beginners, 50% for intermediate levels and 35% for advanced and expert level mountain-goers. The resort also has four great terrain parks where you can test out your skills. There’s Burton Adventure Land, Burton Progression Park, the K2 Stomping Grounds and the Border X Course.

So, if Kirkwood sounds like a place you would like to spend your next vacation, or if you’d like to get some more firsthand insight about the resort and all it has to offer, please give us a call. Our friendly, knowledgeable Destination Specialists are standing by to assist you.
