Beaver Creek - Vacation Rentals & Ski Lodging

Originally planned in the 1950’s, Beaver Creek was not fully complete until the 1980’s when it first opened for the 1980-81 ski season. Since that time, the resort has been a well-known destination among families and serious skiers and snowboarders. Secluded in the mountains above Avon, Colorado, Beaver Creek has grown since its first season, purchasing the adjacent, and formerly independent resort, Arrowhead Mountain in 1985 and later building the ultra-luxurious Bachelor Gulch Village. Due to its ever-increasing popularity, the resort hosted the World Ski Championships in 1989 and 1999 and, for the last several years, has hosted the Birds of Prey World Cup.

With this short, yet full, history in mind, it is certainly easy to see why Beaver Creek is as popular as it is today. Primarily known as an upscale, family-oriented destination, Beaver Creek offers all the activities and amenities that have come to be expected of a world class resort. During the winter season, skiers and snowboarders of all experience levels are able to enjoy the award-winning slopes. In the summer time, the mountain is open for hiking and it is not uncommon to find food and wine or beer events taking place, including Blues, Brews and Barbecue (a local favorite), Oktoberfest or Fourth of July fireworks.

Of course, you’ll find great and surprisingly unique shopping, not to mention the finest dining experiences that can compete with anything that Colorado has to offer. Be sure not to miss a trip to one of the world-class dining experiences that are tucked away throughout the mountain, including Beano’s Cabin, nestled in a mountain meadow at the base of Larkspur bowl, and Zach’s Cabin, to which you will arrive by sleigh. As an added bonus, it has come to be known among those that frequent the resort as an extra treat to find fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies being handed out by the always smiling Beaver Creek staff as you make your way to the lifts.

The resort itself boasts four separate mountains, which are Beaver Creek, Grouse Mountain, Larkspur Bowl and Arrowhead Mountain. These four mountains provide 1,832 skiable acres (741 hectares) that boast 149 runs for all experiences during the winter season and 150 hiking trails for all experiences during the summer. What’s more, there are four terrain parks and a half-pipe for those advanced skiers and snowboarders feeling a little adventurous. 25 separate lifts will provide you with access to every area of the mountain which is good when you are trying to cover the entire 3,340 foot (1,020 meter) vertical rise of the mountain, which tops out at 11,440 feet (3,490 meters), and everything it encompasses.
