Big Sky Resort - Vacation Rentals & Ski Lodging

Big Sky Ski Resort originally opened its slopes in 1973 and acquired the former Moonlight Basin resort in October 2013, making it not only a popular destination in the Rocky Mountain for anyone looking for a winter vacation but also the largest ski resort in the United States by acreage. A family friendly resort, Big Sky, along with Moonlight Basin, offer a variety of activities for its visitors to take part in, including skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter and golf, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball, tennis, whitewater rafting and zip-lining during the summer months.

The main resort village, Mountain Village, sits at the base of the mountain at around 7,500 feet (2,286 meters) and serves as a jumping off point to access the slopes. Mountain Village provides guests to the resort with excellent casual and fine dining that has become synonymous with North America’s premier resorts. You’ll also find fun and eclectic shopping that emphasizes the unique feel of Big Sky, as well as the fun and beautiful creations from the artistic outpourings of the local population.

Big Sky encompasses 5,750 skiable acres (2,327 hectares) and over 250 runs, the longest of which covers a distance of 6 miles (10 kilometers). With 30 lifts providing access to a resort that receives about 400 inches (1,016 centimeters) of snowfall each year, you’ll be able to lose yourself for days trying to take-in all that Big Sky has to provide. As a highlight, the Lone Peak Tram is an aerial tramway that spans the space between the Lone Peak Triple Chairlift and the summit of Lone Mountain at an elevation of 11,166 feet (3,403 meters), and accesses the most difficult terrain that can be found at Big Sky Ski Resort. In addition, for those advanced skiers and snowboarders looking for a thrill, the Dakota Lift will take you to the Dakota Territory, an out-of-bounds side-country that is part of the resort.

So, if Big Sky sounds like a place you would like to spend your next vacation, or if you’d like to get some more firsthand insight about the resort and all it has to offer, please give us a call. Our friendly, knowledgeable Destination Specialists are standing by to assist you.
